February 7-11

Happy Monday! 

I hope your child thoroughly enjoyed our rain/snow days! It certainly provided a nice mini break for us all. We'll be adjusting our schedule and jumping back into things this week. 

Thursday we will be having our class speech meet! Your child should have been memorizing their piece for the past couple of months. The top 3 performers from the class will move on to the school speech meet on Tuesday, February 22nd. 

Tuesday the students will have their spelling test and geography quiz that was going to be on Friday. The students will still do a normal spelling lesson routine this week, with this week being a review week. 

Also, a reminder that next Monday is Valentine's Day! Students are welcome to bring in treats to share with their class that day. 

Here is what is going on this week: 

Monday- PE, Latin, Music 

Tuesday- Band, Art, Spelling Test Geography Quiz 

Wednesday- Music, Band, Latin

Thursday- PE, Latin, Math Test, Bible Test, Speech Meet 

Friday- Assembly, Library, Band, Spelling Test

Here is what we are learning this week: 

Science- The students will be creating their own experiments which they will then present to 1st and 2nd graders on Friday afternoon. 

Math- Math lessons this week be on lengths of segments, complementary and supplementary angles, and reducing fractions before multiplying. Thursday there will be a test and Friday we will complete an investigation in class. 

Literature- We will continue to read Redwall! 

Bible- We will finish reviewing for the test today. The test will then be on Thursday. We will also begin to study Paul's first missionary journey. The memory verse, Ephesians 6:13-18a, is due Thursday, February 17th. 

Grammar- We will be studying contractions, interjections, and possessive nouns this week. 

Writing- There will be no writing this week, as we have other activities taking up our writing time. 

History- We will continue studying John Wycliffe and Jan Hus. 

Geography- The geography quiz will be on Tuesday. The students will then label the next section of their map for a quiz the following week. 

Spelling- The lesson 17 test is on Tuesday. Lesson 18 will be assigned this week, homework due on Thursday with a test on Friday. This is a review week, so the test will be 50 words.

Happy Wednesday!  We enjoyed our short week, with lots of special activities including a chocolate party, a pep rally, and celebrating a passover meal!  We are looking forward to one week of normal before we go into a short week again. February 14-18

Happy Monday!  We packed a lot of things into last week! Your kids performed their wonderful speech meet pieces. They also prepared awesome science experiments that we presented to 1st and 2nd grade! The students are working hard and I love seeing their creativity too.  We have a short week! The students have Friday and Monday off. We'll work hard and get lots done in this short week!  The school wide speech meet is on Tuesday, February 22nd. This event is closed to people outside of the building, but we will be live streaming and recording it.
