November 29 - December 3

Happy Tuesday!  It is great to be back. I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving and had a blessed time with friends and family.  We're looking to jump back in and face the craziness of December! Thursday marks the halfway point through the quarter, so I've been encouraging the students to stay on top of things, especially their AR points.  Here is what is going on this week:  Monday-   No School!   Tuesday- Library, Band, Art Wednesday- Music, Band, Latin  Thursday- PE, Latin, 5 Paragraph Essay due  Friday- Assembly, Library, Band, Spelling Test, John 14:9-11 due  Here is what we are learning this week:  Science- We will continue to study different types of energy and the students will be assigned a project at the end of the week.  Math- Lessons this week will be on circumference, pi, subtracting mixed numbers with regrouping, dividing by a decimal number, and dividing by a fraction.  Literature- We'll continue to read through Phantom Tollbooth and complete various activit

November 22-26

Happy Friday!  We're almost there! We completed another full and productive week of school. We are all greatly looking forward to the Thanksgiving break and reflected on all that we have to be thankful for in our assembly today.  I'm so thankful to teach all these wonderful kids and am thankful for your partnership as parents! It is a joy to teach these 6th graders.  I will not be at school next Monday and Tuesday, as I am leaving on break early to enjoy time with my family. Mrs. Bindschadler will be substituting for Monday and Tuesday.  Here is what is going on this week:  Monday-   PE, Latin, Music  Tuesday- Library, Band, Art, Math Test  Wednesday- No School!  Thursday- No School!  Friday- No School!  Here is what we are learning this week:  Science- Mrs. B will be completing some fun science activities with the students on energy.  Math- We'll be completing one lesson, on using decimal numbers in expanded notation and mentally multiplying decimals by 10 and 100.  Litera

November 15-19

Happy Thursday!  We greatly enjoyed our half day/DEAR day! Thanks to those who brought in snacks to share. I hope your child enjoys the long weekend. I'll be seeing many of you for a conference and look forward to talking with you all.  We also had an awesome time on our first field trip! Thank you to the parents who were able to join us.  There is one full week before we head into the shortened week before Thanksgiving break. This week we have an additional assembly, as we'll be joining the upper school on Wednesday to put together Operation Christmas Child boxes. Happy Friday!  We are looking forward to a fun and short week! Our field trip is on Monday. We'll still be having PE and music class on Monday, since they are first and last period. I've sent out an email with details on the field trip.  Thursday we will be having a half day, as there are parent teacher conferences on Thursday and Friday. I told the students we would be having a DEAR day on Thursday--drop everything and read! Students can bring comfy items such as a small blanket, pillow, or stuffed animal. They can also bring a snack and a should have a book or two!
