November 8-12

Happy Friday! 

We are looking forward to a fun and short week! Our field trip is on Monday. We'll still be having PE and music class on Monday, since they are first and last period. I've sent out an email with details on the field trip. 

Thursday we will be having a half day, as there are parent teacher conferences on Thursday and Friday. I told the students we would be having a DEAR day on Thursday--drop everything and read! Students can bring comfy items such as a small blanket, pillow, or stuffed animal. They can also bring a snack and a should have a book or two! We'll still be having PE and math class that day.

Here is what is going on this week: 

Monday- PE, Music, Field Trip 

Tuesday- Band, Art, Bible Test 

Wednesday- Music, Band, Latin

Thursday- PE, Early Dismissal-Parent/Teacher Conferences 

Friday- No School-Parent/Teacher Conferences 


Here is what we are learning this week: 

Science- Our rocket activity was pushed to this coming week. We'll also be finishing the documentary and reviewing for the test, which will be the following week. 

Math- Lessons this week will be on multiplying decimal numbers, using zero as a placeholder, and circle graphs. We will also complete an investigation. There will be no math test! 

Literature- We'll continue to read through Phantom Tollbooth and complete various activities along with it. We'll continue to work on a in class activity on idioms. 

Bible- The Bible test on Unit 4 will be on Tuesday. We'll also begin Unit 5 on Wednesday, studying Jesus in Gethsemane. 

Grammar- We will continue to review pronouns and subject verb agreement. 

Writing- The students will be working on their 5 paragraph essays in school! 

History- We will be learning all about da Vinci! 

Geography- We'll be studying and labeling Western Europe. 

Spelling- There will be no spelling with our shortened week!

Happy Friday and happy last post of 6th grade!  Our last week of "real" school is done! The students have been working so incredibly hard and I am so proud of them. Thanks for all you've been doing at home, too!  The students have their Redwall projects due on Monday! They've been working on them all week in class. We will also be watching the Redwall movie and enjoying our feast as well! Monday afternoon the students will participate in a field day with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. The kids should wear their team colors. For 6th grade, kids are either on the white team or the gray team. They know what team they are on!  Any students who didn't finish their geography projects in class are allowed to take them home and finish them over the weekend.  Tuesday we will begin cleaning and will also be having a party in the afternoon, the details of which I am not knowledgeable about :)  Wednesday we will finish cleaning and finish watching Redwall, as we close out our year

April 25-29

Happy Monday!  Thank you all so much for your prayers for me and my family, especially my mom. They were heard and God is good! I also appreciate all the grace given to me being out all week. Mrs. B is amazing and did a wonderful job filling in for me. We'll be working things out and adjusting due dates this week to get back on track.  We are looking forward to Grandparents' Day on Thursday! We are also looking forward to Workathon next week. May 16-20

Happy Thursday!  We had an awesome week exploring the Wild West! God gave us beautiful weather and safety and so many wonderful volunteers to make it such a fun week!  This coming week we will return, mostly, to a normal schedule. We are looking forward to our field trip to the zoo on Thursday!
