November 15-19

Happy Thursday! 

We greatly enjoyed our half day/DEAR day! Thanks to those who brought in snacks to share. I hope your child enjoys the long weekend. I'll be seeing many of you for a conference and look forward to talking with you all. 

We also had an awesome time on our first field trip! Thank you to the parents who were able to join us. 

There is one full week before we head into the shortened week before Thanksgiving break. This week we have an additional assembly, as we'll be joining the upper school on Wednesday to put together Operation Christmas Child boxes. We've also moved Library to Tuesday, due to a schedule change for Mrs. Iriana. 

Here is what is going on this week: 

Monday- PE, Latin, Music 

Tuesday- Library, Band, Art, Memory Verse due (verses 5-8)

Wednesday- Assembly, Music, Band, Latin

Thursday- PE, Latin, Science Test 

Friday- Assembly, Band, Spelling Test, Geography Quiz 


Here is what we are learning this week: 

Science- The test on flight will be on Thursday! We'll also begin our next unit, forms of energy. 

Math- Lessons this week will be on finding percent of a number, renaming fractions by multiplying by 1, equivalent division problems, missing number problems with fractions and decimals, simplifying and comparing decimal umbers, and dividing a decimal by a whole number. 

Literature- We'll continue to read through Phantom Tollbooth and complete various activities along with it. We'll be finishing up our idiom books! 

Bible- The second section of the memory verse, verses 5-8, are due on Tuesday. We'll also be studying Jesus' trial, both Jewish and Roman. 

Grammar- We will be studying conjunctions and clauses this week. 

Writing- The students will continue working on their 5 paragraph essays in school! 

History- We will continue to learn all about da Vinci! 

Geography- The students will have a quiz on Friday over Western Europe. We will then label the remaining countries in Europe for a quiz after the break. 

Spelling- The students will complete Lesson 9 this week, with homework due on Thursday and the test on Friday.
