January 31-February 4

Happy Friday! 

Well, so much for the normal routine! With all the delays this week, we've had to adjust and change around some of the plans. 

Continue to encourage your child to work on their speech meet piece! Our class speech meet is on Thursday, February 10th. 

Here is what is going on this week: 

Monday- PE, Latin, Music 

Tuesday- Band, Art

Wednesday- Music, Band, Latin

Thursday- PE, Latin

Friday- Assembly, Library, Band, Spelling Test, Geography Quiz, Food Trucks due 

Here is what we are learning this week: 

Science- We will continue to study matter, completing some fun science experiments this week! 

Math- Math lessons this week be on using prime factorization to reduce fractions, dividing mixed numbers, lengths of segments, complementary and supplementary angles, and reducing fractions before multiplying. Friday will be our food truck day! Students should bring in their menus, food trucks, and food (which is totally optional!) We'll be buying and selling food during math class! 

Literature- We will continue in Redwall! 

Bible- Lessons this week will be on the conversation of Saul and Peter's vision as well as his escape from jail. At the end of the week we will review for the test, which will be the following Tuesday. The new memory verse is Ephesians 6:13-18a. It is due Thursday, February 17th. 

Grammar- We will be studying contractions, interjections, and possessive nouns this week. 

Writing- The students will share their poems on Tuesday with a poetry party. We will then be working on some different writing mechanics. 

History- We will be jumping into the Reformation this week, studying John Wycliffe and Jan Hus. We weren't able to get to them this past week. 

Geography- The geography quiz on the next section of Africa is on Friday. A seterra quiz link is up on Google Classroom. 

Spelling- Lesson 17 will be assigned this week, homework due on Thursday with a test on Friday.
