Happy Monday!
We're up and back to a normal routine...hopefully :)
This week is pretty routine, nothing wild or crazy happening! Just an advance note: we will have a small Valentine's Day party on Monday the 14th. If your child would like to bring in a treat or valentines, they are welcome to, please just bring items for the entire class! Thanks!
Continue to encourage your child to work on their speech meet piece! Our class speech meet is on Thursday, February 10th.
Here is what is going on this week:
Monday- PE, Latin, Music
Tuesday- Band, Art
Wednesday- Music, Band, Latin, Math Test
Thursday- PE, Latin
Friday- Assembly, Library, Band, Spelling Test
Here is what we are learning this week:
Science- We will continue to study matter, specifically looking at states of matter and how properties of different substances compare.
Math- Math lessons this week be on quadrilaterals, prime factorization, division by primes, factor trees, multiplying mixed numbers, and using prime factorization to reduce fractions. The students will also have a math test on Wednesday. Students should also work on their food trucks at home!
Literature- We will begin our next novel, Redwall, this week!
Bible- Lessons on the early church will continue, including lessons on Stephan and Saul. I will also assign the students a new memory verse.
Grammar- This week we will review and then complete a graded assessment on what we have learned so far.
Writing- The students will work on their poetry portfolios this week. They will be due next Monday!
History- We will be jumping into the Reformation this week, studying John Wycliffe and Jan Hus.
Geography- The students have been assigned a new section of Africa. That quiz will be next week!
Spelling- Lesson 16 will be assigned this week, homework due on Thursday with a test on Friday.
