December 13-17

Happy Friday!

What a crazy and fun week it has been! I'm so proud of how well the 6th graders did at the concert last night! They've been excellent leaders all week. We're heading into our last full week before break and we have a lot to accomplish.

Don't forget that we will be doing a Christmas gift exchange the last day of break, the 22nd. Please bring a wrapped $5 gift!

Here is what is going on this week:

Monday- PE, Latin, Music

Tuesday- Band, Art, Geography Quiz (for those who didn't take it Friday)

Wednesday- Music, Band, Latin, 5 Paragraph Essay due

Thursday- PE, Latin, Math Test, History Timelines due

Friday- Assembly, Library, Band, Spelling Test

Here is what we are learning this week:

Science- The students' science projects are due on Monday! They'll be presenting them in class. We'll also continue our unit on electricity.

Math- Lessons this week will be on simplifying fractions, reducing, dividing fractions, and common denominators. The students will also have a test on Thursday.

Literature- We'll continue to read through Phantom Tollbooth and complete various activities along with it.

Bible- The students will be studying the resurrection of Jesus. The last section of their memory verse, John 14:12-14, is due Tuesday, December 21st.

Grammar- The students will be reviewing what we have learned so far and will complete a graded assessment.

Writing- The students' final 5 paragraph essay is due on Wednesday! We'll begin our unit on poetry.

History- The students timelines are due on Thursday. We'll also begin studying Cesare Borgia, which we were unable to get to this past week with our crazy schedule.

Geography- The students who chose not to take the Eastern Europe quiz on Friday will take it on Tuesday. We'll also continue to work on a special in class project, looking at how countries around the world celebrate Christmas.

Spelling- Lesson 12 will be assigned this week, with homework due on Thursday and a test on Friday. This is a review week, so the test will contain 50 words.
