Happy Thursday! 

We've finished the 1st quarter! I'm so proud of all the hard work the students have done. We were talking this morning about how quickly time this first quarter has gone by. They get to enjoy a Friday off and a short week next week! 

The permission slips were sent out yesterday for the Science Center. Please return them as soon as you are able!

Here is what is going on this week: 

Monday- PE, Latin, Music 

Tuesday- Band, Art, Final Narrative Story drafts due 

Wednesday- Music, Band, Latin

Thursday- No School! 

Friday- No School! 


Here is what we are learning this week: 

Science- We'll continue to learn about flight! We'll be studying the forces that are at work to allow flight to happen, as well as how airplanes are controlled. The students will be experimenting with propellors! 

Math- Lessons this week will be on expanded notation, writing percents as fractions, and decimal place value. 

Literature- We'll continue to read through Phantom Tollbooth and complete various activities along with it. We'll be studying idioms also! 

Bible- Mrs. B will be leading us in a special passover activity on Monday. Well also be studying Jesus washing the disciples' feet and Judas. 

Grammar- We started our study of pronouns and will also be talking about imperative sentences. 

Writing- The students' final copy of their narrative stories is due Tuesday! 

History- The students will be studying Sandro Botticelli. 

Geography- No geography due to the short week! 

Spelling- No spelling due to the short week!

Happy Friday and happy last post of 6th grade!  Our last week of "real" school is done! The students have been working so incredibly hard and I am so proud of them. Thanks for all you've been doing at home, too!  The students have their Redwall projects due on Monday! They've been working on them all week in class. We will also be watching the Redwall movie and enjoying our feast as well! Monday afternoon the students will participate in a field day with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. The kids should wear their team colors. For 6th grade, kids are either on the white team or the gray team. They know what team they are on!  Any students who didn't finish their geography projects in class are allowed to take them home and finish them over the weekend.  Tuesday we will begin cleaning and will also be having a party in the afternoon, the details of which I am not knowledgeable about :)  Wednesday we will finish cleaning and finish watching Redwall, as we close out our year

April 25-29

Happy Monday!  Thank you all so much for your prayers for me and my family, especially my mom. They were heard and God is good! I also appreciate all the grace given to me being out all week. Mrs. B is amazing and did a wonderful job filling in for me. We'll be working things out and adjusting due dates this week to get back on track.  We are looking forward to Grandparents' Day on Thursday! We are also looking forward to Workathon next week. May 16-20

Happy Thursday!  We had an awesome week exploring the Wild West! God gave us beautiful weather and safety and so many wonderful volunteers to make it such a fun week!  This coming week we will return, mostly, to a normal schedule. We are looking forward to our field trip to the zoo on Thursday! We aren't leaving until 9 am, so the students will still have PE since it is first period.  Here is what is going on next week:  Monday- PE, Latin, Music  Tuesday- Band, Art, Math Test, Memory Verse due  Wednesday- Music, Band, Latin, Math Test  Thursday- PE, Field Trip to the Zoo!  Friday- Assembly, Library, Band, Latin, Spelling Test Here is what we are learning this week:  Science- We will continue our study of animals!  Math- On Monday our lesson will be on two-step equations.
