August 30- September 3

Happy Friday! 

We made it through the first 3 days! The kids were absolute champs with the extremely warm weather! We've already been having fun and I really hope that your kids have been enjoying these first few days. With our first full week coming up, we'll be jumping right into our subjects! 

Here is what is going on this week: 

Monday-PE, Latin, Music 

Tuesday- Band, Art 

Wednesday- Music, Band, Latin 

Thursday- PE, Latin 

Friday- Elementary Assembly, Library, Band 


Science- We're studying the immune system! We'll be looking at communicable and non-communicable diseases. 

Math- We started lesson 1 today! This week we'll be completing lessons 2-6, looking at multiplying and dividing whole numbers, missing numbers in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, order of operations, and fractional parts. 

Literature- We'll be starting our first novel, Tuck Everlasting! We've started on some vocabulary and discussion already. We'll the first 6 chapters next week. 

Bible- Our first unit is studying the layout of the Bible, the setting, context, etc. 

Grammar- We will be reviewing the basic parts of speech, become familiar with Shurley English, and play some fun games to help us review. 

Writing- The students will share their short stories they wrote this past week and we'll also be studying what goes into a good narrative story. 

History- In the first half of the year we'll be studying the Renaissance! This week will be an intro to that time period and what we'll be studying. 

Geography- We'll be labeling our first country and learning our first jingle on Friday-South America! 

Spelling- We will not be starting spelling yet this week.

Happy Friday and happy last post of 6th grade!  Our last week of "real" school is done! The students have been working so incredibly hard and I am so proud of them. Thanks for all you've been doing at home, too!  The students have their Redwall projects due on Monday! They've been working on them all week in class. We will also be watching the Redwall movie and enjoying our feast as well! Monday afternoon the students will participate in a field day with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. The kids should wear their team colors. For 6th grade, kids are either on the white team or the gray team. They know what team they are on!  Any students who didn't finish their geography projects in class are allowed to take them home and finish them over the weekend.  Tuesday we will begin cleaning and will also be having a party in the afternoon, the details of which I am not knowledgeable about :)  Wednesday we will finish cleaning and finish watching Redwall, as we close out our year

April 25-29

Happy Monday!  Thank you all so much for your prayers for me and my family, especially my mom. They were heard and God is good! I also appreciate all the grace given to me being out all week. Mrs. B is amazing and did a wonderful job filling in for me. We'll be working things out and adjusting due dates this week to get back on track.  We are looking forward to Grandparents' Day on Thursday! We are also looking forward to Workathon next week. May 16-20

Happy Thursday!  We had an awesome week exploring the Wild West! God gave us beautiful weather and safety and so many wonderful volunteers to make it such a fun week!  This coming week we will return, mostly, to a normal schedule. We are looking forward to our field trip to the zoo on Thursday! We aren't leaving until 9 am, so the students will still have PE since it is first period.  Here is what is going on next week:  Monday- PE, Latin, Music  Tuesday- Band, Art, Math Test, Memory Verse due  Wednesday- Music, Band, Latin, Math Test  Thursday- PE, Field Trip to the Zoo!  Friday- Assembly, Library, Band, Latin, Spelling Test Here is what we are learning this week:  Science- We will continue our study of animals!  Math- On Monday our lesson will be on two-step equations.
