May 23-27

Happy Friday! 

What an amazing field trip we had to the Pittsburgh Zoo! God blessed us with wonderful weather and we had a great time. 

We're heading into the final stretch! Just two and a half weeks left. We will have several final projects happening and will be working hard until the end! Don't worry, we'll have plenty of fun too :)

Here is what is going on next week: 

Monday- PE, Latin, Music 

Tuesday- Band, Art

Wednesday- Music, Band, Latin, Math Test 

Thursday- PE

Friday- Elementary Awards Assembly, Library, Band, Latin, Spelling Test

Here is what we are learning this week: 

Science- We will continue our study of animals! 

Math- Monday and Tuesday will be lessons on corresponding parts, similar triangles, and symmetry. Wednesday the students will have a test. Thursday we will complete and investigation and Friday we will have a lesson on applications using division. 

Literature- We will continue to read Redwall! We will be finishing the book this week. The students will then be assigned a project to finish up the book. 

Bible- The study of Paul's letters will continue with 1 and 2 Corinthians, Hebrews, and 1 Peter. The students will not have any more memory verses. 

Grammar- This week we will continue to review predicate nouns and linking verbs. 

Writing- The students' final draft of their persuasive essay will be due on Friday, June 27. This will be their final writing project! 

History- I have assigned the students' their final history project. They will be doing a presentation of a person that we have studied this year. This project will be due on June 1st. Stayed tuned for details about coming to view the students' projects! 

Geography- The students have started on their final geography project. They will be creating world maps and will study and fill in the countries over the next two weeks. This project will be completed in class! 

Spelling- The students will be assigned Lesson 30 this week. Homework will be due on Thursday with a test on Friday. This will be the last week of spelling!

Happy Friday and happy last post of 6th grade!  Our last week of "real" school is done! The students have been working so incredibly hard and I am so proud of them. Thanks for all you've been doing at home, too!  The students have their Redwall projects due on Monday! They've been working on them all week in class. We will also be watching the Redwall movie and enjoying our feast as well! Monday afternoon the students will participate in a field day with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. The kids should wear their team colors. For 6th grade, kids are either on the white team or the gray team. They know what team they are on!  Any students who didn't finish their geography projects in class are allowed to take them home and finish them over the weekend.  Tuesday we will begin cleaning and will also be having a party in the afternoon, the details of which I am not knowledgeable about :)  Wednesday we will finish cleaning and finish watching Redwall, as we close out our year

April 25-29

Happy Monday!  Thank you all so much for your prayers for me and my family, especially my mom. They were heard and God is good! I also appreciate all the grace given to me being out all week. Mrs. B is amazing and did a wonderful job filling in for me. We'll be working things out and adjusting due dates this week to get back on track.  We are looking forward to Grandparents' Day on Thursday! We are also looking forward to Workathon next week. May 16-20

Happy Thursday!  We had an awesome week exploring the Wild West! God gave us beautiful weather and safety and so many wonderful volunteers to make it such a fun week!  This coming week we will return, mostly, to a normal schedule. We are looking forward to our field trip to the zoo on Thursday! We aren't leaving until 9 am, so the students will still have PE since it is first period.  Here is what is going on next week:  Monday- PE, Latin, Music  Tuesday- Band, Art, Math Test, Memory Verse due  Wednesday- Music, Band, Latin, Math Test  Thursday- PE, Field Trip to the Zoo!  Friday- Assembly, Library, Band, Latin, Spelling Test Here is what we are learning this week:  Science- We will continue our study of animals!  Math- On Monday our lesson will be on two-step equations.
