December 6-10
Happy Friday!
We had a fun week back and the students have jumped right back in. I sent an email with a few reminders, including the Christmas Shoppe, a gift for our class gift exchange, and donations for PitCare.
The Christmas concert is Thursday night, so we've adjusted the schedule a bit so Mr. Hixon can have all students combined, which is why Music is moved to Tuesday and Thursday.
Here is what is going on this week:
Monday- PE, Latin
Tuesday- Band, Art, Music, Math Test
Wednesday- Band, Latin
Thursday- PE, Latin, Music, Bible Test
Friday- Assembly, Christmas Shoppe, Library, Band, Spelling Test, Geography Quiz (Optional--can take on Tuesday)
Here is what we are learning this week:
Science- The students have been assigned their energy projects and have worked on them a bit in class. These projects are due Monday, December 13th. A digital copy of the instructions was posted on Google Classroom. We'll also begin studying our next unit on electricity.
Math- We will complete an investigation activity on Monday. Tuesday there will be a test. Wednesday and Thursday the students will have lessons on rounding decimal numbers and mentally dividing decimal numbers by 10 and 100. Friday the students will work in class on a math project they will begin work on--a food truck!
Literature- We'll continue to read through Phantom Tollbooth and complete various activities along with it.
Bible- The students will have a Bible test on Thursday. We'll review for the test on Monday. Wednesday we will begin the next unit, studying the resurrection of Jesus.
Grammar- The students will review compound sentences and will work on complex sentences.
Writing- The students' final 5 paragraph essay is due on Wednesday, December 15th. We will also begin our unit on poetry this week.
History- The students will finish their timelines on daVinci and Michelangelo. We'll also begin our study of Cesare Borgia.
Geography- The students will have a quiz on Eastern Europe on Friday, December 10th, adjusted from the previous date.
Spelling- Lesson 11 will be assigned this week, with homework due on Thursday and a test on Friday.
