October 4-8

Happy Friday! 

It has been a thoroughly enjoyable week with things returning mostly to normal! I'm working on getting grades fully updated this weekend, as I've been sorting through all the work coming in after quarantine. Thanks for your patience! 

We are looking forward to a spirit week next week. Your child does not need to participate in the dress up days. If they do not, they should wear dress code clothing. I'll list each days' theme below. 

Here is what is going on this week: 

Monday- Comfort Day, PE, Latin, Music 

Tuesday- Blue and White Day, Band, Art, Science Test 

Wednesday- Twin/Matching Day, Music, Band, Latin, Literature Test 

Thursday- Decade Day, PE, Latin

Friday- Tropical Day, Elementary Assembly, Library, Band, Spelling Test


Here is what we are learning this week: 

Science- The test on the immune and nervous system will be on Tuesday. We will then begin our next unit on flight! 

Math- Lessons this week will be on divisibility, fractions, ratio, writing division answers as mixed numbers, and multiples. 

Literature- The final test on Tuck Everlasting will be on Wednesday. The students have also been assigned a project, which is due on Tuesday, October 12th. 

Bible- The students will be finishing up our unit on Jesus' ministry. We've been doing an in class activity on parables and will study the parable of the landowner on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday we will review for the test, which will be the following week. The students' new memory verse is due on Thursday, October 14th. 

Grammar- We will be continuing to study prepositions and prepositional phrases. 

Writing- I'll be working on editing the students' stories. Once they've received them back, I will assign a due date. We'll also be talking in class about correct formatting and quotation marks, etc. 

History- The students will be studying Cosimo and Lorenzo deMedici. 

Geography- The students should be studying the 50 states. The quiz will be next week! They will also present their state projects, which they are working on in class. 

Spelling- Students will complete lesson 5 this week. Words and homework will be assigned on Monday, due Thursday, with a test on Friday.

Happy Friday and happy last post of 6th grade!  Our last week of "real" school is done! The students have been working so incredibly hard and I am so proud of them. Thanks for all you've been doing at home, too!  The students have their Redwall projects due on Monday! They've been working on them all week in class. We will also be watching the Redwall movie and enjoying our feast as well! Monday afternoon the students will participate in a field day with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. The kids should wear their team colors. For 6th grade, kids are either on the white team or the gray team. They know what team they are on!  Any students who didn't finish their geography projects in class are allowed to take them home and finish them over the weekend.  Tuesday we will begin cleaning and will also be having a party in the afternoon, the details of which I am not knowledgeable about :)  Wednesday we will finish cleaning and finish watching Redwall, as we close out our year

April 25-29

Happy Monday!  Thank you all so much for your prayers for me and my family, especially my mom. They were heard and God is good! I also appreciate all the grace given to me being out all week. Mrs. B is amazing and did a wonderful job filling in for me. We'll be working things out and adjusting due dates this week to get back on track.  We are looking forward to Grandparents' Day on Thursday! We are also looking forward to Workathon next week. May 16-20

Happy Thursday!  We had an awesome week exploring the Wild West! God gave us beautiful weather and safety and so many wonderful volunteers to make it such a fun week!  This coming week we will return, mostly, to a normal schedule. We are looking forward to our field trip to the zoo on Thursday! We aren't leaving until 9 am, so the students will still have PE since it is first period.  Here is what is going on next week:  Monday- PE, Latin, Music  Tuesday- Band, Art, Math Test, Memory Verse due  Wednesday- Music, Band, Latin, Math Test  Thursday- PE, Field Trip to the Zoo!  Friday- Assembly, Library, Band, Latin, Spelling Test Here is what we are learning this week:  Science- We will continue our study of animals!  Math- On Monday our lesson will be on two-step equations.
