October 4-8

Happy Friday! 

It has been a thoroughly enjoyable week with things returning mostly to normal! I'm working on getting grades fully updated this weekend, as I've been sorting through all the work coming in after quarantine. Thanks for your patience! 

We are looking forward to a spirit week next week. Your child does not need to participate in the dress up days. If they do not, they should wear dress code clothing. I'll list each days' theme below. 

Here is what is going on this week: 

Monday- Comfort Day, PE, Latin, Music 

Tuesday- Blue and White Day, Band, Art, Science Test 

Wednesday- Twin/Matching Day, Music, Band, Latin, Literature Test 

Thursday- Decade Day, PE, Latin

Friday- Tropical Day, Elementary Assembly, Library, Band, Spelling Test


Here is what we are learning this week: 

Science- The test on the immune and nervous system will be on Tuesday. We will then begin our next unit on flight! 

Math- Lessons this week will be on divisibility, fractions, ratio, writing division answers as mixed numbers, and multiples. 

Literature- The final test on Tuck Everlasting will be on Wednesday. The students have also been assigned a project, which is due on Tuesday, October 12th. 

Bible- The students will be finishing up our unit on Jesus' ministry. We've been doing an in class activity on parables and will study the parable of the landowner on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday we will review for the test, which will be the following week. The students' new memory verse is due on Thursday, October 14th. 

Grammar- We will be continuing to study prepositions and prepositional phrases. 

Writing- I'll be working on editing the students' stories. Once they've received them back, I will assign a due date. We'll also be talking in class about correct formatting and quotation marks, etc. 

History- The students will be studying Cosimo and Lorenzo deMedici. 

Geography- The students should be studying the 50 states. The quiz will be next week! They will also present their state projects, which they are working on in class. 

Spelling- Students will complete lesson 5 this week. Words and homework will be assigned on Monday, due Thursday, with a test on Friday.
