September 13-17

Happy Saturday! 

We had another great week! I've greatly enjoyed continuing to get to know your kids. They've done a great job of acclimating to 6th grade. 

The students have several tests and quizzes this week. We've talked about managing time well and being responsible! We'll be reviewing throughout the week. 

Here is what is going on this week: 

Monday-PE, Latin, Music 

Tuesday- Band, Art, Math Test 

Wednesday- Music, Band, Latin 

Thursday- PE, Latin, Memory Verse due 

Friday- Elementary Assembly, Library, Band, Spelling Test, Geography Quiz 


Here is what we are learning this week: 

Science- The students will continue to work on their immune system cartoons and we'll also be doing a special activity in class on Tuesday. We'll also be starting our study of the nervous system later in the week. 

Math- Tuesday the students will have their first math test on Tuesday. Monday we'll be reviewing for the test. Wednesday we will be completing an investigation, which is an activity we'll be completing in class together. This investigation will be looking at graphs and frequency tables. 

Literature- We'll continue reading through Tuck Everlasting and completing activities in class. 

Bible- The students' first memory verse is due on Thursday. We'll also be finishing up our first unit and reviewing for the test, which will be the following week. We'll also begin our next unit, studying the ministry of Jesus. 

Grammar- We will be continuing to review Shurley and work on prepositional phrases. 

Writing- We'll continue to review how to properly write dialogue and the students will begin their first drafts of their narrative essay. 

History- The students will be studying Raphael and Brunelleschi this week. 

Geography- The students' first quiz will be on Friday over South America. 

Spelling- Students will complete lesson 2 this week. Words and homework will be assigned on Monday, due Thursday, with a test on Friday.
